S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary-general Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi was honored Tuesday (25) by the ambassador from Qatar to Brazil, Ahmad bin Mohammed Al Shebani. AlBudaiwi was welcomed for a lunch in the residence of the ambassador that featured heads of diplomatic missions from GCC states in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to information made public by the Embassy of Qatar on social media<\/a>, talks were held on the GCC-Brazil relations and how to improved them in areas of mutual interest. Qatar is part of the GCC alongside Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Besides the tribute in the Qatari ambassador\u2019s residence, the GCC\u2019s secretary-general is also scheduled to have a dinner in the Embassy of Kuwait and a meeting with Brazil\u2019s prime minister Mauro Vieira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to information made public by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, the Latin American giant\u2019s trade with the GCC states were over USD 16 billion in 2023, with Brazilian exports at USD 9.3 billion and imports from GCC states at USD 6.7 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trade between Brazil and Qatar stood at USD 1 billion last year, with USD 364 million exports from Brazil and USD 698 million exports from Qatar, according to data compiled by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC).
