S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Guimar\u00e3es Rosa Institute in Beirut<\/a>, Lebanon, opens on Thursday (11) an exhibition featuring the artworks selected by the \u201cTripoli Fair: The Way I See It\u201d Art Prize, held to raise awareness about the importance of conserving the fair designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. The opening will take place from 6 to 9 pm, and the exhibition will be on view until July 31, free of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Embassy of Brazil in Lebanon and the Guimar\u00e3es Rosa Institute in Beirut bring to Beirut the 20 best artworks selected by the prize that make up the exhibition, which was previously held in Tripoli. The Guimar\u00e3es Rosa Institute is a Brazilian government agency dedicated to cultural and educational diplomacy.<\/p>\n\n\n

The International Fair Rachid Karami, or Tripoli Fair, designed by Niemeyer, occupies a 70-hectare site. The main building consists of a huge, covered hall in the shape of a boomerang, a flexible space for countries to install exhibitions. It was the flagship project of Lebanon\u2019s modernization policy in the 1960s. It was enlisted as World Heritage in Danger by UNESCO in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to discover what do youth think about the Tripoli Fair, how do they use it, and what do they make of the contrast between the idealistic project, the endangered present and the potential futures of the Fair, the organizers launched \u201cTripoli Fair: The Way I See It\u201d Art Prize in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The artists<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

More than 180 entries were received from Lebanese and people living in Lebanon aged 18 to 35 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three winning artists received a USD 1,000 prize each: Ieva Saudargaite Douaihi, Mariam Maaliki, and Mohamad Alamin Younis. The other artists whose works were selected and will be part of the exhibition are Anass Joudaydeh, Bachira El Aref, Carl Bilen, Diego Castro Alvarez, Lara Abi Saber, Leila Charafeddine, Malek Halwany, Mohamad Beirouty, Mohamad Tartoussi, Najib Sakr, Nizar Maaliki, Nour Maaliki, Pietro Bassil, Reem Rafei, Sara Rafihi, Stephanie Tager and Tharaa Captan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
