S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazil\u2019s deputy Foreign Minister Maria Laura da Rocha welcomed on Friday (19) in Bras\u00edlia a delegation from Saudi Arabia\u2019s consultative assembly Majlis Al-Shura. The assembly<\/a> advises the ruler on issues that are important to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n

The delegation was led by Shura Council’s Saudi-Brazilian Parliamentary Friendship Committee Vice Chairman Major General Ali Al Al-Sheikh and featured Reema Al-Yahia, Fahd Al-Taiash, Faisal Al-Fadil, and Najwa Al-Ghamdi. The group was accompanied by Saudi Arabia\u2019s ambassador to Brazil Faisal Ibrahim Ghulam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Brazil\u2019s foreign ministry, Brazil-Saudi Arabia relations are experiencing a positive moment, with an intense schedule of bilateral meetings, including the visit of President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva to Riyadh in November 2023. Last year Saudi Arabia was Brazil\u2019s leading trade partner in the Middle East with an exchange of over USD 6 billion worth of goods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saudi consultative assembly\u2019s meetings<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Discussions with Rocha included the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them across various domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group\u2019s appointments in Brazil also included discussions with Rodrigo Pacheco, president of Brazil\u2019s senate, on boosting cooperation between the two nations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Saudi-Brazilian Parliamentary Friendship Committee delegation also met with the counterpart parliamentary friendship committee members in the Senate. The discussions centered around enhancing cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Brazil, emphasizing the significance of strengthening ties between the two parliamentary friendship committees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A dinner was held by Ambassador Ghulam, featuring Brazilian officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting came ahead of a trip to Brazil by Saudi Arabia\u2019s Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Bandar AlKhorayef, which starts on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
