It was the next-to-best performance in eight years, second only to 2004, when there was an increase of 13.2%. The figures were disclosed this Thursday (27th) by the Federation of Industries of the State of S\u00e3o Paulo (Fiesp).<\/p>\n<p> According to a statement issued by the organization, the industry of the state has returned to the pre-crisis activity level recorded in September 2008. The machinery and equipment sector ended the year with growth of 24.4%, more than double the performance of general industry. In 2009, the segment ended the year with a 25.2% decline in its level of activity.<\/p>\n<p> Another sector that has grown was basic metallurgy, at 9.7%. In 2009, the segment, had recorded a decline of 17.2%. The non-metallic minerals industry also recovered and grew by 7.7% in 2010, after a 4% decline in 2009.<\/p>\n<p> The director of the Fiesp&#8217;s Economic Research and Studies Department, Paulo Feracini, said in an interview to <i>Ag\u00eancia Estado<\/i> that for 2011, the Fiesp forecasts growth of 4.5% for the level of activity of the industry of S\u00e3o Paulo.
