In the two preceding months, the industry had recorded declines in output, at 0.8% in December and 0.1% in November. The data were disclosed this Wednesday (2nd) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).<\/p>\n<p> In comparison with January 2010, the Brazilian industry grew 2.5%. There was growth of 9.4% as against the last 12-month period. <\/p>\n<p> In terms of categories, the highest increment from December to January was recorded in durable consumer goods, which grew by 6%. Capital goods grew by 1.8% and semi-durable and non-durable consumer goods, by 0.3%.
