S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b> is accepting enrolments from Brazilian companies to take part in Healthcare, a trade show for the medical-hospital sector due April 14 to 16 in Damascus, the capital of Syria. This will be the Arab Brazilian Chamber’s second time at the fair.<\/p>\n
The Brazilian stand, supported by the Trade and Investment Promotion Department of the Ministry of Foreign Relations and by the Brazilian embassy in Damascus, will cover 70 square meters. According to the Marketing analyst at the Chamber, Filipe Ferraz, the organization intends to take five companies to the fair.<\/p>\n
According to him, Healthcare offers business opportunities in ultrasound, radiography and mammography equipment, machinery for obstetrics and gynecology, disposable items, surgical instruments, cosmetics, pharmaceutical products, medical software, among others.<\/p>\n
Last year, in partnership with the Brazilian foreign ministry (Itamaraty) and the embassy, the Arab Brazilian Chamber organized a schedule on the sidelines of the trade show for the Brazilian companies attending the fair. \u201cWe intend to do the same in this edition,\u201d said Ferraz. According to him, the manufacturers were pleased with these meetings and visits to laboratories and local distributors.<\/p>\n
Brazilian exports of medical-hospital products to the Arab countries reached US$ 14.97 million last year, representing growth of 29% over 2009. The figures were supplied by the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. The main products shipped were orthopaedic items, medication and hospital equipment in general.<\/p>\n
According to the Arab Brazilian Chamber business executive Simone Rojas, Syria, in particular, recorded a 43% growth in 2010 compared with 2009, having imported US$ 850,000 in medical-hospital equipment from Brazil.<\/p>\n
Healthcare is held simultaneously with Dentalcare, a dental sector fair, and that creates even further business opportunities for exhibiting companies. The two events, which are held since 2001, have become established as the top ones for their sectors in Syria.<\/p>\n
According to information supplied by the Abimo, the Middle East is one of the top buyers of Brazilian dental products. In 2010, Brazil exported US$ 7.5 million in dental products to the region. This year, the organization estimates that sales should increase by 10% over 2010.<\/p>\n
