The information was supplied by the minister of Electricity of the Arab country, Ahmed Qusai Kayali, who spoke at a conference at the University of Tishreen, in Latakia, last week.

The new plants will have 1,600 megawatts of capacity. According to the ministry, the development of two other plants, with capacity for 800 megawatts, and wind and solar energy projects are also being considered. Currently, the majority of power produced in Syria comes from gas- and oil-fuelled plants.

The minister also stated that there will be partnerships between the public and private sectors in the country’s electricity sector. He assured, however, that the field will not be privatized.

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

The Arab country plans on putting four new electric power plants into operation between July and August this year.

[91

0":"post-37523","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-economy
The Arab country plans on putting four new electric power plants into operation between July and August this year.
["GET
