S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo area of the airline from the United Arab Emirates, should participate in the Intermodal fair, in logistics and transportation, to take place from April 5th to 7th, in S\u00e3o Paulo. In the event, the company should exhibit its expansion plans in the country and present a new product.<\/p>\n
"Latin America is one of the company’s focuses for coming years," said Dener Sousa, SkyCargo manager in Brazil. "We will focus on the cargo services in coming years, both in Brazil and in the remaining Latin American countries, and are also going to introduce ‘e-freight’, [an electronic tool] aimed at reducing the number of documents transported [with the cargo]." <\/p>\n
Regarding the new product, Sousa explains that, each year, the company transports 80 tonnes of documents related to cargo. With "e-freight", the Emirates target is to "reduce it [the volume of documents transported with cargo] to zero", as the documents will be electronic.<\/p>\n
From Dubai, the company should send a delegation of three executives to participate in Intermodal: Hiram Perera, the senior vice president at Emirates SkyCargo; Prakash Nair, the New Route Development manager, and Robert Siegel, regional manager for Europe and the Americas.<\/p>\n
Operation in Brazil<\/b><\/p>\n
Currently, Emirates SkyCargo runs two flights a week from Viracopos airport, in Campinas, in the interior of S\u00e3o Paulo, on the Campinas \u2013 Frankfurt \u2013 Dubai route. Apart from that, there is also a daily flight (passenger and cargo), leaving the capital city of S\u00e3o Paulo. According to Sousa, each year the company transports 840 tonnes of cargo into and 890 tonnes of cargo out of Brazil.<\/p>\n
Last time he was in Brazil, Hiram Perera announced the company’s interest in starting a flight to Curitiba, in Paran\u00e1. However, according to Sousa, "negotiations are in progress, but for the time being they are only plans".<\/p>\n
