S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The United Arab Emirates celebrated on Monday (2) in Bras\u00edlia its National Day, which also marks its 53rd<\/sup> anniversary. The event was attended by officials and politicians. The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC<\/a>) was represented by board member Mohamad Abdouni Neto.<\/p>\n\n\n

In his speech, the UAE Ambassador in Bras\u00edlia, Saleh Alsuwaidi, pointed out that Brazil is a brotherly and friendly country with which the UAE shares a close collaboration. He highlighted the two visits made by Brazil\u2019s President Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva to the UAE. Alsuwaidi also emphasized the bilateral partnership, which has grown in recent years and extends beyond exports and imports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAmong the [UAE’s] impactful initiatives is the planting of over 10,000 date palm trees in Bahia [state], which\u2019ll leave a lasting legacy by providing social benefits, transforming lives, creating opportunities, and helping to \u2018green\u2019 the semi-arid region,\u201d he said. He also mentioned that the UAE is investing in the production of maca\u00faba oil for the creation of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Alsuwaidi further noted that the UAE is home to citizens from more than 200 nationalities, including 13,000 Brazilians.<\/p>\n\n\n

The dinner hosted by the UAE Embassy in Bras\u00edlia<\/a> was attended by Brazilian officials, politicians, and Arab community members, including the Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski, the Secretary for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Carlos S\u00e9rgio Sobral Duarte, former Minister Jos\u00e9 Dirceu, and Federal Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro. During the event, musician Ian Nain played the oud, a traditional instrument in Arabic music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
