S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian exports to Libya grossed USD 60.2 million in January this year, up 22.3% from the USD 49.2 million worth of exports to the Arab country in the same month last year, according to data from the Latin American giant\u2019s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services. The top product exported to the North African nation in January was beef, totaling USD 16.4 million, up 112.9% from USD 7.7 million in January 2024. In a statement on exports for the period released on Thursday (27), beef industry group Abrafrigo reported that beef exports to Libya have grown \u201cstrongly\u201d at the beginning of the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sugar, a product that was not exported at the beginning of last year, was the second most exported product from Brazil to Libya, with sales totaling USD 14.1 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Exports of chicken meat also saw an increase in value. In January of this year, USD 12.8 million were exported, compared to USD 8.8 million in the same period of 2024. Chicken offal accounted for USD 10.5 million in exports this year, while in January of last year, it totaled USD 7.8 million. Coffee exports also grew, rising from USD 2.1 million in January 2024 to USD 3.3 million last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In contrast, Libya exported USD 49.9 thousand worth of aluminum waste to Brazil. There were no records of Brazilian purchases from Libya in January of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
