S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The president of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, said in a cabinet meeting held on Thursday (13) that the country needs to implement economic reforms pointed out by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to restore confidence in the country. A former army chief, Aoun has been governing Lebanon since January, when he was elected by parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this Thursday\u2019s meeting with his cabinet, he said he met with the IMF delegation, which stressed \u201cthe importance of finalizing a program before summer, citing previous unsuccessful attempts,\u201d the state news agency NNA<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to him, the IMF called for the establishment of a unified data center for the Finance Ministry, as well as the passage of amendments to the Banking Secrecy Law and a law on banking sector restructuring.
