Algerians purchased 15,900 tonnes of beef from Brazil in January and February, generating revenue of USD 85.4 million, up 199% in volume and 254% in value from the same period in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to statistics published on Abrafrigo\u2019s website, Algeria has been gaining ground as an importer of Brazilian beef. Last year the country ranked 12th, showing significant growth compared to 2023, when it was in 40th place. This year, in January, Algeria was already the fourth-largest destination, a position it maintained after the second month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other major destinations of Brazilian beef exports year to date through February were China, the largest buyer at about 40% of Brazil\u2019s total exports, followed by the United States and Chile. Abrafrigo highlights the growth in sales during this period to two other countries: Italy and Libya, the latter being an Arab nation in Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overall beef exports from Brazil<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, Brazil\u2019s beef exports in the first two months of the year totaled 456,100 tonnes, showing a 2% decline in volume compared to the same months in 2024 but a 12% increase in revenue, reaching USD 2.066 billion. In February alone, exports of both fresh and processed beef and by-products dropped by 6% in volume to 217,100 tonnes.
