S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Brazilian Poultry Union (Ubabef) announced on Friday (15) that it is going to promote a workshop about Brazilian chicken and egg production in Johannesburg, South Africa. The event should take place on Tuesday (19) during the 18th Southern African International Trade Exhibition (Saitex), considered the largest fair in the food and beverage sector on the African continent, according to the organisation.<\/p>\n
The idea is to bring together local importers and chefs<\/i> to point out the quality and health of Brazilian products, according to the Ubabef. The event has the support of the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex), of the embassy of Brazil to South Africa and of the Ministry of Agriculture.<\/p>\n
The organization informed that Brazil exported 82,600 tonnes of chicken to the South African market in the first six months of this year. She added that the trade authority of South Africa announced the opening of antidumping investigation against 20% of Brazilian exports, but, according to the CEO at Ubabef, Francisco Turra, companies of Brazil are going to show that the complaint has no fundaments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the promotion of the workshop in South Africa we showed that on our side there is no fear or blame. Our exports to South Africa strictly observe the regulations of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). And our product is very well accepted by the local market, due to its important attributes,\u201d said Turra, according to a press statement by the organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to show how our products may be complementary, and emphasize the opportunities for mutual gain to Brazilian exporters and local businessmen, with benefits to the South African population,\u201d said the international relations manager at Ubabef, Adriano Zerbini, according to the statement.<\/p>\n
