S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Walt Disney Company has announced the creation of a resort and theme park in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On Wednesday (7), the company disclosed an agreement with Miral, a developer of immersive destinations and experiences in the emirate, for the execution of the project, which will be located on Yas Island.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The development will combine Disney stories, characters, and attractions with the culture, coastlines, and architecture of Abu Dhabi. The company says the project will bring together contemporary architecture and cutting-edge technology, calling it authentically Disney and distinctly Emirati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resort will be developed and built by Miral, but Disney and its professionals will lead the creative design and oversee operations. Miral, which has developed a series of family entertainment destinations on Yas Island in collaboration with international brands, will operate the resort, according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It will be Disney\u2019s seventh theme park destination. The Walt Disney Company is targeting the tourism movement in the UAE, noting that the country is just a four-hour flight away from a third of the world\u2019s population, and that 120 million passengers travel through Abu Dhabi and Dubai airports each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
