S\u00e3o Paulo – Volkswagen Brazil has already manufactured six million engines at its factory in S\u00e3o Carlos, in the interior of the state of S\u00e3o Paulo. The unit was inaugurated in 1996 and is the carmaker\u2019s third largest engine manufacturing facility, after the ones in Germany and Hungary.<\/p>\n
According to information disclosed by the Volkswagen press office, the plant makes 3,100 complete engines and 300 partial engines each day. It has ten assembly lines with 11 robots and 77 automatic stations. The engines that go to the Brazilian market are all bi-fuel, dubbed Total Flex. <\/p>\n
The plant in S\u00e3o Carlos counts on 818 direct employees and 400 service providers. The training centre at the factory boasts an innovative concept, with the adoption of a prototype engine that is assembled and disassembled for the employees to study. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe successful experience became a success case of the company\u2019s and studies are underway for it to be reproduced at other Volkswagen units around the world,\u201d said Marcos Ruza, the unit\u2019s executive manager. <\/p>\n
