{"id":389062,"date":"2025-05-22T16:20:32","date_gmt":"2025-05-22T19:20:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=389062"},"modified":"2025-05-22T16:22:45","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T19:22:45","slug":"brazil-african-nations-talk-fight-against-hunger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/brazil-african-nations-talk-fight-against-hunger\/","title":{"rendered":"Brazil, African nations talk fight against hunger"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Cooperation to tackle a shared challenge, hunger, was the focus of lectures, experience exchanges, and meetings at the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Brazil-Africa Dialogue on Food Security, Fight Against Hunger, and Rural Development, held this week in Bras\u00edlia and coordinated by Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representatives from 44 African countries and 10 international institutions, including development banks and philanthropic organizations, participated in the second edition of the event, held 15 years after the first edition during Lula\u2019s second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of their appointments in Brazil, ministers, ambassadors, and representatives from African nations visited the storage facility of national crop agency <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.br\/conab\/pt-br\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Conab<\/a> in Bras\u00edlia, as well as the facilities of Brazil\u2019s state-run agricultural center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embrapa.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Embrapa<\/a> in Petrolina, Pernambuco, to learn about projects developed by the company focused on the soil and climate of Brazil\u2019s semi-arid region. Even before the Brazil-Africa Dialogue began on Monday (19), Embrapa president Silvia Massruh\u00e1 received three African delegations: from Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as Libya\u2019s extraordinary ambassador to Bras\u00edlia, Osama Ibrahim Ayad Sawan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the meeting, Sawan discussed the need for technical cooperation between Brazil and Libya for the development of peanut, citrus, and wheat crops, as well as cooperation in cattle ranching for beef and dairy production.
