Bras\u00edlia \u2013 This Friday (19th), upon delivering housing units under the My House, My Life Programme (Programa Minha Casa, Minha Vida), in S\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 do Rio Preto, in the interior de S\u00e3o Paulo, president Dilma Rousseff stated that Brazil is not facing a crisis, in a reference to the economic issues that Europe and the United States are facing. She said the Brazilian government is following up with social programmes that heat up the economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis crisis that began in 2008 is not over, but we remain in our path, because we are not in a crisis,\u201d said the president, upon stressing that the second edition of Minha Casa, Minha Vida provides for 2 million housing units to be built.<\/p>\n
The president restated that Brazil is strong enough to face turbulences. \u201cWe are growing stronger each day in order to protect ourselves, to make this country grow while the crisis takes place overseas, and we are stronger to protect ourselves, and we keep on working, building houses, creating more industries, more jobs, doing what we have to. We are aware that ours is a very rich country, we have oil, ore, our agriculture is strong, we have industries,\u201d she said in an address.<\/p>\n
Dilma attended the delivery of 1,993 housing units, 50 of which are adapted for people with locomotion problems. The housing units will go to families with monthly incomes of up to 1,600 reals (US$ 1,000).<\/p>\n
