And it was, thus, playing, in the company of their mother, artisan Alice Maria Rocha, that they became the entrepreneurs who currently manage Incomun Arte, from Belo Horizonte (MG), a maker of costume jewellery, accessories and decoration items from plastic ceramics imported from Germany. The result is colourful items, with the rustic appearance that pleases Brazilians and foreigners. In their case, exports go to Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. The Arab nations are among the markets to be worked in future.

“My mother discovered ceramic plastics when the material was first imported to Brazil, some 12 years ago, mainly for picture frames,” recalled Camila Magalhães. “We grew and learnt how to use the molten ceramics, to produces costume jewellery and accessories, in an uncommon style,” she said.

This way, Incomun officially started establishing itself when Camila, currently responsible for brand Marketing, turned 18. Apart from production of the items themselves, the company also customizes items like handbags, shoes and wallets. Always with details in plastic ceramics.

In Brazil, sales go mainly to beach cities. “We sell much to Santa Catarina, Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco,” said Camila. “Apart from the market in São Paulo, which is also important to us.” Brand identification with beach style also resulted in the opening of a shop in the city of Paraty, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro. “We received many proposals for the opening of franchises, but still need to structure the company better to think about that,” said the businesswoman.

On the foreign market, sales of the product received the support of the Training and Entrepreneur Support Centre Institute (Centro Cape), of Minas Gerais. The brand participates in the Mãos de Minas project. “It was with their support that we sent our products to events like the Bisutex costume jewellery fair in Madrid, Spain, last March,” said Camila.

Apart from sales in joint projects, the company has already exported directly to France, Italy and Portugal. Among the most successful products abroad is the spring bracelet. “The one that winds itself around your arm several times. Foreigners love it,” said the entrepreneur.

In fact, when the product involves foreigners, Camila makes a point of showing that the Arabs are Incomun targets. “It would be great to sell to those nations,” she said. “We know that our colours have all that is needed to please buyers in the region,” she said, while she awaits further business for her brand.

Contact

Incomun Arte
Telephone: (+55 31) 3261-1078
E-mail: incomun@incomunarte.com

*Translated by Mark Ament

Straight from Belo Horizonte, Incomun Arte bets on plastic ceramics as an input for production of accessories and costume jewellery.
