S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Brazilian vehicle exports generated US$ 1.39 billion in revenues in August, an increase of 7.5% over July and of 22.2% compared with August of last year, according to figures issued by the National Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association (Anfavea) this Thursday (8th).<\/p>\n
Despite the increase in revenues, the number of units shipped in August (44,878) was 3.5% lower than in July. In comparison with August 2010, however, there was an increase of 4.7%.<\/p>\n
From January to August, exports reached US$ 9.89 billion, 23.1% more than in the same period of 2010, according to the Anfavea. A total of 341,320 vehicles were exported, 5.2% more using the same basis of comparison.<\/p>\n
Domestic vehicle production and sales were record highs last month. A total of 325,300 units were made, 5.9% more than in July and 5.5% more than in August 2010.<\/p>\n
In the first eight months of 2011, 2.34 million vehicles were manufactured in Brazil, a 4.4% increase over the same period of last year. <\/p>\n
In August, 327,400 vehicles were licensed, 6.9% more than in July and 4.7% more than in August 2010. in 2011, 2.37 million vehicles were licensed, 8% more than in the same period of last year.<\/p>\n
Imported vehicles accounted for 22,4% of total sales in Brazil from January to August, i.e. 530,998 units, according to Anfavea. In other words, the country imports more than it exports.<\/p>\n
