S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The outgoing charg\u00e9 d\u2019affaires at the Embassy of Lebanon in Brazil, George El Jallad, welcomed guests to a farewell event at the Embassy headquarters last Friday (8) in the federal capital, including executive and legislative authorities, diplomats, and members of the Lebanese community in Brazil.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce was represented by its president William Adib Dib Junior and International Relations vice president and secretary general Mohamad Mourad and was one of the organizations acknowledged by the diplomat during his address. El Jallad will now serve a stint in a different country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cGeorge El Jallad is a much admired and commended professional,\u201d the Arab Chamber\u2019s president told ANBA. Dib said the Chamber has built rapport with the diplomatic representations of all Arab countries in a bid to foster and solidify Brazil\u2019s relations with those nations even further. He also said that in addition to commerce, Lebanon and Brazil are deeply connected through immigration as well as social and cultural ties, and that the Arab Chamber\u2019s role also includes fostering these ties.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lebanese culture was featured during the event with typical cuisine and folk music and dance performances. The d\u00e9cor included images of the Rachid Karami International Fair Complex in Tripoli, Lebanon, designed by the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in the 1960s as part of a national modernization plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
