S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The governor of Brazil\u2019s Santa Catarina state, Jorginho Mello, met with Arab diplomats on Monday (15) during a ceremony at the Federal Senate, and on Sunday (14), when he was received by the Qatari ambassador, Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Shebani, at a lunch, and by the Moroccan ambassador, Nabil Adghoghi, at a dinner. According to information shared on the social media of Vice Governor Marilisa Boehm, the meeting at the Qatari Embassy was an opportunity to \u201cshowcase the potential of Santa Catarina,\u201d a state open to \u201cstrategic partnerships that drive development.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lunch was attended by representatives of the Brazilian public sector and the ambassadors of Qatar, Morocco, Bahrain (Bader Abbas Alhelaibi), Saudi Arabia (Faisal Ibrahim Ghulam), Kuwait (Talal Rashed Abdulaziz Almansour), Oman (Abdulghaffar Al Bulushi), and a representative from the United Arab Emirates embassy.<\/p>\n\n\n

Some of the topics discussed at the meetings included investments in the state\u2019s infrastructure sectors, such as Via Mar, a state highway project between Florian\u00f3polis and Joinville aimed at reducing traffic on the federal BR-101 highway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Monday, the Senate held a special session to celebrate the 50th<\/sup> anniversary of Santa Catarina\u2019s National Articulation Secretariat. The meeting was attended by Mello, Boehm, state representatives in Congress, state secretaries, and Ambassador Adghoghi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Senado Not\u00edcias agency, the diplomat said the state offers opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as technology, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and logistics infrastructure. Mello had already met with Arab diplomats in the first half of the year and visited the United Arab Emirates last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
