The report, which indicates that Arab countries could be a destination for part of the products affected by the U.S. tariff increase, was released as soon as the rates came into effect and delivered to Brazil’s Ministries of Agriculture and Livestock and of Foreign Affairs.

Although the meeting focused on trade and investments in general, the industry’s concern with exports led attendees to address the issue of tariffs. According to FIESC’s website, the federation’s president, Gilberto Seleme, said that with the tariff hike, international trade is experiencing an unusual moment, and the chambers are being called upon to collaborate. “Much of what we produce needs to be exported, but for that, commercial partners, technology, and competitiveness are necessary, because in this globalized world, competition is very strong,” Seleme said, according to FIESC.

According to the Santa Catarina group, representatives from around 30 bilateral chambers participated, including those of Argentina, Japan, Canada, Uruguay, Italy, Portugal, Germany, and China, as well as chambers focused on Arab and African markets.
