{"id":397926,"date":"2025-10-27T17:49:54","date_gmt":"2025-10-27T20:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/?p=397926"},"modified":"2025-10-27T17:51:21","modified_gmt":"2025-10-27T20:51:21","slug":"when-women-thrive-humanity-thrives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/when-women-thrive-humanity-thrives\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cWhen women thrive, humanity thrives\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 On the first day of the third edition of the Global Halal Brazil Business Forum (<a href=\"https:\/\/globalhalalbrazil.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GHB<\/a>), five female executives gathered for a panel to discuss \u201cFemale Leadership in the Global Halal Economy.\u201d The event, organized in partnership between the <strong>Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (<a href=\"https:\/\/ccab.org.br\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABCC<\/a>) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fambras.org.br\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FAMBRAS Halal Certifier<\/a>, took place in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Sarah Hassan Kamal El Gazzar and Silvia Antibas in a panel on women\" class=\"wp-image-397888\" style=\"width:267px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-683x1024.jpg 683w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-400x600.jpg 400w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-100x150.jpg 100w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-768x1152.jpg 768w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-150x225.jpg 150w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-450x675.jpg 450w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-1200x1800.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/anba.com.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/sarah-scaled.jpg 1707w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Sarah Hassan Kamal El Gazzar and Silvia Antibas in a panel on women<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Opening the panel, Silvia Antibas, Vice President of Marketing at the ABCC and panel moderator, spoke briefly about how halal is a lifestyle. \u201cHalal represents contemporary universal values, and therefore is part of everyone\u2019s life, especially women\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next, the Vice President of Marketing spoke with Sarah Hassan Kamal El Gazzar, Dean of the College of International Transport and Logistics, about the presence of women in technology within the halal sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHaving women in the logistics sector has proven that they aren\u2019t just beneficiaries of empowerment but also drivers of transformation in the logistics field, especially when we talk about the halal economy,\u201d Gazzar explained. \u201cAs a logistics specialist myself, I can say that logistics has long been seen as a male-dominated and highly technical field, but now we can witness young women managing projects and supply chains, and representing their institutions internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Women in the halal economy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To discuss the latest trends regarding women\u2019s participation in the halal economy, the panel\u2019s other moderator, Claudia Yazigi, member of the ABCC Board and Chair of the WAHI Women\u2019s Committee, invited Alessandra Frisso, another member of the ABCC Board and Director at H2R Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe most recent evidence shows that female leadership is increasingly notable, both in Brazil and globally, in sectors such as fashion, food, tourism, finance, and cosmetics. And when we look at the fastest-growing areas, cosmetics, fashion, and pharmaceuticals stand out,\u201d Frisso said. \u201cWe also see young women making strong contributions in technology, launching startups and creating new businesses with a very interesting perspective\u2014a feminine perspective on family and community issues.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Continuing the discussion on the halal economy sectors experiencing the most growth with female participation, Soha Chabrawi, Technical and Religious Quality Manager at FAMBRAS Halal Certifier, presented data from a recent study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAccording to a study by The Global State of Islamic Economy, women have influenced three sectors: fashion, cosmetics, and tourism,\u201d Chabrawi said. \u201cMuslim women are very style-conscious, so they like to have good clothing and cosmetics. When we talk about Muslim fashion, we mean more modest fashion, which is not easy to find in non-Muslim countries. Due to this gap, even well-known brands like Nike and Puma are turning to this market.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the end of the panel, Sulivan Alves, Technical Director of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), addressed the topic of women\u2019s presence in agribusiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTalking about women in agribusiness is strategically discussing an economy that can be improved. We have made progress, but objectively speaking, they are still behind in global leadership positions across all areas and in pay equity. Discussing female empowerment aims to provide equal opportunities with equal rights and responsibilities.
