Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The Brazilian government is going to enhance the integration between environmental and developmental policies. The decision was announced this Wednesday (23rd) by the minister of Environment, Izabella Teixeira, who launced the Action Plan for Sustainable Production and Consumption (PPCS, in the Portuguese acronym). The intention, according to her, is to encourage citizens to take part in actions geared toward sustainable development and environment protection.<\/p>\n
The minister added that the plan will count on the participation of different government sectors, businessmen, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and citizens. The objective is to encourage more efficient production and responsible consumption.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne of the plan\u2019s purposes is to use goods and services that meet basic needs, enabling greater quality of living, while minimizing environmental damage,\u201d said Izabella Teixeira, who informs that the plan comprises several ongoing plans.<\/p>\n
The program\u2019s implementation includes the signing of sectorial pacts with enterprises and class organizations, as well as educational campaigns to mobilize consumers. The priorities are sustainable consumption in the retail sector and strengthening of the sustainable public purchase system, so as to encourage the market to produce goods and services based on environment-conscious criteria.<\/p>\n
