The meeting was chaired by Brazil\u2019s Secretary-General of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maria Laura da Rocha, and by Lounes Magramane, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to information from Brazil\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegations discussed the bilateral relationship in areas such as trade, investment, and technical cooperation, as well as the international scenario and the political context in South America and North Africa. The ministry also noted that Brazil was one of the first countries to recognize Algeria\u2019s independence in 1962, and in the same year established its embassy in Algiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazil and Algeria recorded around USD 3 billion in trade from January to October this year. Brazil earned USD 1.87 billion from sales to the Arab country, mainly sugar, soybeans, corn, beef, and iron ore.
