S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Kuwaiti government inaugurated a geopark on Thursday (1) in a historical and environmental area north of Kuwait Bay. The site contains archaeological remains dating back to ancient phases of civilization and includes facilities for geological and heritage activities, as well as restaurants, caf\u00e9s, and shops, according to Kuwaiti state news agency KUNA<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Abdurrahman Al-Mutairi, who inaugurated the park, told Kuwait TV that it is part of national projects highlighting the country\u2019s historical, geological, and natural heritage and that it will boost educational and cultural tourism. He also said the park helps provide knowledge about humanity and the Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supervised by the Ministry of Information and Culture, the park is a national initiative spearheaded by Kuwait Oil Company in partnership with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) and the Kuwait Geological Society. The site will open to the public next Wednesday (7), with reservations available starting Sunday (4) through the Kuwait Visit<\/a> website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
