Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) released its 2012 action plan today (14th). It provides for the establishment of a strategic intelligence centre for Brazilian agriculture and a Secretariat for Business to diffuse knowledge and strategies, and to expand the corporation\u2019s capacity in public and private deals.<\/p>\n
This year, Embrapa\u2019s plan will focus on strengthening management, research, development, innovation and technology transfer, among other actions. In technology transfer, Embrapa will launch its Knowledge Exchange and Technology Transfer Program, aimed at productive inclusion and coupled with the Poverty-Free Brazil Program (Programa Brasil sem Mis\u00e9ria). Also, local and regional partnerships will be strengthened.<\/p>\n
During the launch of the plan, the Brazilian minister of Agriculture, Mendes Ribeiro Filho, stated that the country owes much of its growth and its current status to Embrapa. \u201cEmbrapa will be increasingly important for Brazil to become the world\u2019s leading food producing country. For us to be able to be prouder and prouder of the Brazilian people\u2019s rising income, poverty reduction and improving quality of living.\u201d<\/p>\n
