S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong> (ABCC) presented its 2025 activities on Thursday (7) at the Embassy of Morocco in Bras\u00edlia. On the occasion, diplomats from 16 Arab countries and the head of the Arab League mission in Brazil, Ibrahim Alzeben, discussed initiatives and events to promote dialogue and engage the Arab community in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the ABCC\u2019s vice president of international relations and secretary-general, Mohamad Orra Mourad, after the institution\u2019s president, William Adib Dib Jr., presented the 2025 activity report, diplomats put forward proposals to the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n

One proposal, from Morocco\u2019s ambassador and dean of the Council of Arab Ambassadors in Brazil, Nabil Adghoghi, was to hold a seminar in Bras\u00edlia on Brazil\u2019s presidential elections. The suggestion was to invite a political scientist to analyze the electoral process under different scenarios. \u201cIt\u2019s very important. We could invite an expert for one meeting here at our headquarters in S\u00e3o Paulo and another in Bras\u00edlia,\u201d Mourad said, noting that the institution held a similar event during the 2018 elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first round of the presidential elections will be held on October 4. In this electoral process, voters will choose the president, governors, federal deputies, state deputies, and 54 of the 81 senators. Terms are four years, except for senators, whose terms are eight years. If necessary, a runoff will be held for executive positions\u2014president and governors\u2014on October 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saudi Arabia\u2019s ambassador, Faisal Ibrahim Ghulam, suggested conducting a study to assess the impacts of the conflict in the Middle East on trade relations between Brazil and Arab countries. He also proposed creating an online magazine to portray the daily life of the Arab community in Brazil and the activities of the ABCC and ambassadors in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Qatar\u2019s ambassador, Ahmad Mohammed Al Shebani, thanked the ABCC for its presence at the Doha Forum last year and invited the institution to take part in the Halal Expo, to be held in Doha from September 7 to 9 this year. Halal products are those made in accordance with Islamic rules. Bahrain\u2019s ambassador, Bader Abbas Hasan Ahmed Alhelaibi, made suggestions for the 5th<\/sup> Brazil & Arab Countries Economic Forum, which the ABCC will hold on August 25 in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the meeting, the ABCC was honored by the Council of Arab Ambassadors. The tribute was followed by a lunch. Also attending were the ABCC\u2019s institutional relations director, Fernanda Baltazar, and the head of the ABCC\u2019s office in Dubai, Rafael Solimeo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
