Titled “Memories of Brazilian Diplomacy,” the exhibition brings together video testimonies from 30 retired diplomats discussing their personal trajectories, events in Brazilian and international history, and behind-the-scenes accounts of diplomacy since the 1960s. The exhibition opened Thursday (14) and will remain permanently available on the museum’s website, which operates exclusively online.

The exhibition is an initiative by Museu da Pessoa in partnership with the Association of Brazilian Diplomats (ADB). The videos are divided by regions and themes, including Africa, Women Diplomats, Negotiation, Multilateralism, Middle East and Asia, Nuestra América, and Consular Work. The exhibition also features an overview of Brazilian embassies abroad, with a map showing their expansion over the years. A timeline of major events in Brazilian and world history, information about Brazil’s foreign ministry, and a space for submitting new stories are also part of the virtual exhibition.

In the section dedicated to Africa, diplomats Ana Cabral, Luiz Antonio Fachini Gomes, Raul de Taunay, and Rubens Ricupero share stories mentioning Angola, South Africa, Tunisia, Libya, Nigeria, and Benin. In the Middle East and Asia section, diplomats Fausto Martha Godoy, Sergio Eduardo Moreira Lima, and Sergio Florencio discuss countries such as India, Israel, Palestine, and Iran. Arab countries are located in both Africa and the Middle East. The videos are short, lasting about three to four minutes each. Written versions of the exhibition content are available in other languages, but the video testimonies are in Portuguese.

The exhibition was curated by Brazilian journalist and historian Mauro Malin. “These testimonies help us understand Brazilian diplomacy from a rare perspective: that of those who experienced these processes from the inside. In organizing these stories, we sought to reveal the behind-the-scenes of decisions, crises, and negotiations that often appear only in official terms, but are also shaped by human experiences,” Malin was quoted as saying in a press release.

The exhibition is part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the ADB. The association currently brings together more than 1,600 active and retired diplomats, as well as pension beneficiaries. Museu da Pessoa is a collaborative virtual museum focused on recording, preserving, and transforming life stories into sources of knowledge, understanding, and connection. It houses more than 18,000 video, audio, and text testimonies, along with around 60,000 digitized images and documents.

Visit:
Digital exhibition “Memories of Brazilian Diplomacy”
Museu da Pessoal (virtual)

Translated by Guilherme Miranda

Supplied

The exhibition “Memories of Brazilian Diplomacy” was launched Thursday (14) on the Museu da Pessoa website and features testimonies from retired diplomats, intertwining personal stories with remarkable episodes from their careers at Brazil’s foreign ministry.

[89
2075,56789,9536,2074,3424,32444,56790
0":"post-410499","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-culture","8":"tag-ambassadors","9":"tag-association-of-brazilian-diplomats-2","10":"tag-diplomacy-en","11":"tag-diplomats","12":"tag-exhibition","13":"tag-exposicao-en-2","14":"tag-museu-da-pessoa
The exhibition “Memories of Brazilian Diplomacy” was launched Thursday (14) on the Museu da Pessoa website and features testimonies from retired diplomats, intertwining personal stories with remarkable episodes from their careers at Brazil’s foreign ministry.
["GET
