S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Applications for the next edition of the Zayed Sustainability Prize<\/a> are open until June 22. Presented by Zayed Earth Philanthropy, based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the award recognizes innovative and scalable initiatives across six categories: Health, Food, Energy, Water, Climate Action, and Global High Schools. Nonprofit organizations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and high schools are eligible to apply. On Tuesday evening (2), the prize organizers hosted a reception in S\u00e3o Paulo to promote the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UAE Consul General in S\u00e3o Paulo Abdalla Shaheen said in his remarks at the event that the prize reflects the vision of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE, and noted that his legacy lives on through initiatives focused on sustainable development and humanitarian impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBringing together leaders, entrepreneurs, and organizations in S\u00e3o Paulo reinforces the importance of connecting local solutions with global opportunities. We see Brazil as a country that combines talent, creativity, and innovation capacity to stand out even further in this landscape. We believe that through collaboration between our countries and ecosystems, we can accelerate solutions that benefit not only our nations, but the world as a whole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n

Each winner receives USD 1 million. The six winning schools receive USD 150,000 each. This year, finalists will also receive awards: USD 100,000 for nonprofit organizations and small and medium-sized enterprises, and USD 25,000 for schools. The total prize pool amounts to USD 7.2 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created 18 years ago, the Zayed Sustainability Prize has awarded 128 winners and, according to the organizers, has positively impacted the lives of more than 400 million people. Its goal is to recognize projects that are both innovative and scalable, capable of being applied and replicated in society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among Brazilian recipients, the award has recognized Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Expedicion\u00e1rios da Sa\u00fade, which provides medical care to Indigenous communities in the Amazon; Stattus4, which develops artificial intelligence-based solutions to help water utilities detect leaks; and Jade, which created cognitive tools using gamification for neurodivergent children. Founded in Brazil, Jade is now a UAE-based startup. Both Jade and Stattus4 were winners in 2026, while Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Expedicion\u00e1rios da Sa\u00fade was honored in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
