The action is part of the Support Program for Attraction and/or Promotion of International Events. “The goal is to diversify Brazilian tourist destinations for the event industry,” said the Embratur president Flávio Dino in a statement issued by the organization.

Currently, Brazil ranks ninth in the ranking of the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association). The latest figures, published in 2010, indicate that 275 international events took place in Brazilian cities.

The program will cover funding to attract established international events that have had at least two previous editions. The aid will help the candidacy of Brazil and the bidding city for each event. “The themes can be technical-scientific or sports-related, and events will be required to have taken place in at least two countries other than Brazil,” says Dino.

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

Brazilian Tourism Institute’s new fundraising support program will make US$ 2 million available to public and non-profit entities to attract more technical-scientific and sports events to the country.

[91

0":"post-41274","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-economy
Brazilian Tourism Institute’s new fundraising support program will make US$ 2 million available to public and non-profit entities to attract more technical-scientific and sports events to the country.
["GET
