According to data released on Monday (6) by industry group ABPA, China remained the leading importer, purchasing 50,100 tons, a 12,248% increase from June last year. It was followed by Japan with 46,600 tons (down 0.9%), the United Arab Emirates with 46,200 tons (down 5.1%), and Saudi Arabia with 33,100 tons (down 1%).

According to the ABPA, June figures may show significant fluctuations because they are being compared with June 2025, when poultry exports were affected by restrictions imposed after a now-resolved case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The case was identified in May last year at a poultry farm in Rio Grande do Sul state.

According to the ABPA, exports reached a record high in the first half of this year. Between January and June, shipments totaled 2.936 million metric tons, up 12.9% from the same period last year. Export revenue reached USD 5.7 billion, a 17% increase compared to the first six months of 2025.

In a statement, ABPA President Ricardo Santin said that despite the challenging geopolitical situation in the Middle East, the industry expanded its presence in strategic, high-value markets such as Japan, the European Union and South Korea, while maintaining a strong foothold in the Middle East.

“June’s performance, although influenced by a lower comparison base following the now-resolved HPAI outbreak in Brazil, reinforces the diversification of the country’s export markets, the competitiveness of our production chain, and lays a solid foundation for another year of record chicken meat exports,” Santin said.

Paraná remained the leading exporting state, followed by Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Goiás.

Read more:
Ramadan boosts Brazil’s meatpacker MBRF sales

Translated by Guilherme Miranda

Ari Dias/AEN

The industry posted growth both in June and in the year to date.
