S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Saudi Arabia’s inflation rate rose 1.8% in June from the same month last year, according to data released on Wednesday (15) by the government\u2019s statistical authority GASTAT. Higher housing rents and personal care costs were the main drivers of the Consumer Price Index (CPI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water, electricity, housing rent, gas and other fuel costs increased 3.4% year on year in June. Food and beverage prices rose 1.4%, while transportation costs were up 1.7%. Personal care products and social protection services increased 3.8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By contrast, prices for furniture, household equipment and routine home maintenance fell 0.6%, while clothing and footwear prices declined 0.4%, according to the CPI. Overall, however, June\u2019s inflation remained broadly stable compared with May, when the annual inflation rate stood at 1.6%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
