S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Tunisia\u2019s food trade surplus reached TND 1.06 billion (USD 344.1 million) from January to July, up 22.2% from the same period in 2025, according to data released Wednesday (19) by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agency attributed the positive result to growth in olive oil exports, which totaled TND 3.59 billion (USD 1.2 billion), up 43.4% from the same period in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Olive oil was Tunisia\u2019s leading food export, accounting for 63.3% of total food exports. According to Onagri, the increase in sales was driven by a 47.9% rise in export volume, which also boosted revenue. The product\u2019s price, however, fell 3% to TND 12.47 (USD 4.27) per kilogram. The other leading exports were dates (9.1%) and seafood (5.8%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This performance by Tunisia\u2019s agribusiness sector helped but was not enough to offset the country\u2019s overall trade deficit in the first seven months of the year. The deficit widened 25.7% to TND 14.9 billion (USD 5.1 billion).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
