S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The 45\u00aa Algiers International Fair began on Wednesday (30) in the Algerian capital, with the presence of the country\u2019s president, Abdelaziz Bouteflika. According to the country\u2019s official news agency Alg\u00e9rie Presse Service (APS)<\/i>, the multisectorial fair, which goes up to July 5th, brings together almost 1,000 exhibitors, being 620 foreign, from 36 countries, among them Brazil.<\/p>\n
Among the Brazilian companies present is Randon, a maker of highway implements. The company informed that its stand was organized by the Associated Car & Truck Specialist (ACTS), a carmaker and distributor of the brand in the Arab country. The vehicles are exported in disassembled kits, called CKD.<\/p>\n
According to Randon, over 3,000 brand trailers and semi-trailers are travelling around Algeria. The partnership with ACTS began in 2004, but the company from Rio Grande do Sul has exported to the Algerian market since 1977.<\/p>\n
In all, eight Brazilian companies participated in the fair, with the support of the embassy of Brazil in Algiers. Apart from Randon, also present are Nutrimarcas, of juice and mashed fruit, Brasfood, a food trading company, Novo Mel, of honey products, Jazam, of sweets, Predilecta, of food, Trapp ironworks and construction company Andrade Gutierrez.<\/p>\n
The fair this year focuses on theme \u201c50 years of construction\u201d, in celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the independence of Algeria. The \u201cguest of honour\u201d at the event, however, is Egypt, according to APS<\/i>. Present are 61 companies from the country, representing the textile industry, carpets, food, chemicals, metallurgy, pharmaceuticals and the engineering areas.<\/p>\n
APS<\/i> also informs that another seven Arab countries are exhibiting at the fair, apart from Egypt and Algeria itself \u2013 the last edition had 370 exhibitors, mainly small and medium companies. There are companies from Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Syria, Palestine, Libya and Tunisia.<\/p>\n
