S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce <\/b> and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex, in Portuguese) will promote a Foodstuff Buyer Project on July 10th and 11th. Ten Arab importers will travel to S\u00e3o Paulo to negotiate with Brazilian enterprises. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no question that foodstuffs are our top exports to the Arabs,\u201d says Rodrigo Solano, the Arab Brazilian Chamber Business and Markets manager. According to him, the Arab countries import US$ 65 billion worth of foodstuffs each year, the top buyers being Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Algeria.<\/p>\n
Solano emphasizes that sugar, beef and grain comprise 85% of all Brazilian food exports. \u201cThis type of event constitutes an opportunity for Brazilian enterprises to export different types of foodsdtuffs, and meets the need for a more diverse portfolio,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n
Importers from the Emirates, Kuwait, Egypt, Algeria and Jordan will attend. \u201cThe Arabs are leading buyers of processed foods, sweets, dairy, and frozen foods,\u201d says Solano.<\/p>\n
According to Arab Brazilian Chamber figures, Brazilian food exports to the Arabs reached US$ 2.9 billion from January to April 2012. In 2011, sales reached US$ 10.6 billion, up 25% from 2010.<\/p>\n
