According to data for the month released Tuesday (8) by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), the UAE imported 44,200 tonnes of chicken meat in August, up 35.9% from the same month last year. Sales to Saudi Arabia rose 29.9% over the same period, to 35,100 tonnes.

According to ABPA data, China was the leading destination for Brazilian chicken meat exports in August, with purchases totaling 50,900 tonnes. The UAE ranked second among destinations for chicken meat shipments, followed by the European Union, Saudi Arabia and South Africa.

In August alone, Brazil exported US$997.8 million worth of chicken meat, a 42.7% increase from the same period last year. In volume terms, shipments totaled 492,600 tonnes, up 24.8% from August 2025, when the sector was still dealing with the effects of an avian influenza case that has since been resolved. China and the European Union, for example, reduced or suspended purchases due to an embargo imposed on the product last year. So far this year, export revenue totals US$7.6 billion, up 21.9% from the same period last year. Export volumes have reached 3.9 million tonnes, an increase of 15.5%.

In the statement, ABPA President Ricardo Santin said the steady growth in shipments demonstrates the strength of international demand for the product, as well as the diversification of export destinations and “confidence” in the quality of chicken meat produced in Brazil. The leading exporting states were Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo and Goiás.

Translated by A.I.

Read also:
AgroBR brings Arab companies to Expointer

Ari Dias/AEN

Brazil’s chicken exports to both countries rise in August.
