S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The Middle Eastern countries are the leading export targets for meat company Frinal, based in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Of the roughly 80,000 chickens slaughtered daily, 50% are exported, and almost all of it goes to supermarkets and distributors in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen and Qatar.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Middle East is our main market,\u201d says Leonardo Rinaldi, a trader for the company. \u201cWe sell mostly frozen cuts, such as chicken breast steaks, thighs, upper thighs and wings,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n
Last February, the company went to Gulfood, an annual trade show held in Dubai, in the Emirates in order to gain new clients in the region. It will also attend the matchmaking rounds with Arab importers due at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b>, in S\u00e3o Paulo, next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome of the customers we already know by hearsay. I believe it will be interesting,\u201d he says of the event at the Chamber. According to Rinaldi, although the company dedicates a major share of its production to exports, it is seeking new importers to offset fluctuations on the domestic market. \u201cWhenever the domestic market is not going so well, we set out looking for new clients,\u201d he says. <\/p>\n
In addition to the Gulfood, Frinal attends the trade shows Sial, in France, and Anuga, in Germany. The remainder of exports goes to countries in Asia, such as Hong Kong and Vietnam, and in the Caribbean, such as Cura\u00e7ao.<\/p>\n
Established in 1973, Frinal is based in the city of Garibaldi. The company\u2019s activities include breeder production, fertile egg production, incubation, broiler production, balanced feed production, slaughter, cutting room and sausages. The company has over 1,000 employees and posts over 100 million reals (US$ 50 million) in revenues.<\/p>\n
