Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The \u201cgradual\u201d recovery of economic activity, according to an evaluation by the Central Bank of Brazil (BC) in its Regional Bulletin, published on Tuesday (3). The bulletin is a quarterly publication, aimed at presenting a vision of the regions of the country from figures and economic indices. <\/p>\n
According to the bulletin, \u201cin the first five months of the year, the economy of Brazil has maintained a moderate rhythm of expansion.\u201d One of the reasons for the activity to be at a slower rhythm is the effect of the international crisis.<\/p>\n
"Recovery of domestic economic activity has materialized gradually, partly due to the negative impacts of the international scenery on trade and businessmen\u2019s confidence,\u201d says the bulletin.<\/p>\n
Another factor pointed out by the Bank is the \u201ceffect resulting from the climate adversity faced by the primary sector, with lower crops in several producer regions in the country.\u201d The Central Bank also mentions industrial activity, especially in the Southeast.<\/p>\n
The Economic Activity Index of the Central Bank of Brazil (IBC-Br) shows that the growth of the economy in the five months of this year was 0.85%, in comparison with the same period in 2011. <\/p>\n
However, to the Central Bank, expectations are for growth in economic activity this half: \u201cFavourable work conditions, greater income, moderate growth of credit, as well as consumer confidence, tend to sustain the expansion of demand [search for goods and services]\u201d.<\/p>\n
