Bras\u00edlia \u2013 The economic activity of Brazil recorded growth of 0.75% in June in comparison with May this year. That may be viewed in the Economic Activity Index of the Central Bank (IBC-Br), unseasoned (adjusted for the period), considered the most adequate method by economists for this kind of comparison. <\/p>\n
The growth in June is the highest since March 2011, when there was expansion of 1.47%. As against June last year, unadjusted, there was growth of 0.99%. Despite the positive result, the figures show that the rhythm of expansion of economic activity was greater in the second quarter of this year, reaching 0.38%, as against the period from January to March this year.<\/p>\n
On comparing the first quarter of the year with the fourth quarter of last year, the result had reached 0.63%. The comparison between the second quarters of this year and last year, in turn, results in growth of 0.68%, according to the figures, unadjusted.<\/p>\n
The IBC-Br is a form of evaluating and anticipating the activity of the Brazilian economy. The index incorporates information about the level of activity of three sectors of the economy: industry, trade and services and agriculture.<\/p>\n
