S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 ANBA is a finalist for this year\u2019s edition of the CNT Journalism Prize, of the National Federation of Transport. The article \u201cThe train that doesn\u2019t progress\u201d was written by the journalist Alexandre Rocha, published on August 14th, and is competing in the Internet category. The CNI released the shortlist this Wednesday (3rd).<\/p>\n
The piece shows that the size of the Brazilian railway grid has barely increased over the last few years, and the industry\u2019s share in the country\u2019s transport matrix, even though major projects have been announced. The material was published on the eve of the government\u2019s announcement of a new concession program for railways and roads. <\/p>\n
The agency is running up against four other finalists in the category: Admilson Veloso da Silva, of Minas Gerais\u2019 Hoje em Dia portal, , with the story \u201cVida de caminhoneiro\u201d (Life as a truck driver); Bianca Pyl, of S\u00e3o Paulo\u2019s Rep\u00f3rter Brasil News Agency, with \u201cCaminhoneiros s\u00e3o os trabalhadores que mais morrem no Brasil\u201d (Truck drivers are the workers who die the most in Brazil); Ed Wanderley, of the Di\u00e1rio de Pernambuco website, with \u201cRecifense vai de carro at\u00e9 a esquina\u201d (Recife citizens drive their cars even to the nearest corner); and Roberta Soares, of Pernambuco\u2019s JC Online & NE10, with a special report on the obstacles to mobility. <\/p>\n
The prize also includes Print, Radio, Environment, Photography, and Television categories. Each has five finalists, except for the last two, with six each. <\/p>\n
The jury comprises journalists Andr\u00e9 Luiz Costa and Fernando Mitre, both from Grupo Bandeirantes, economics journalist Lu\u00eds Nassif, of Ag\u00eancia Dinheiro Vivo, Blog do Nassif and website Brasilianas.org, engineer Neise Ribeiro, who specializes in environment and transport, and journalism professor Nilson Lage. CNT has informed that the winners should be announced in the first half of November.<\/p>\n
ANBA has won the CNT Prize\u2019s Internet category twice, in 2004 and 2005, the first one with an overview of logistics in Brazil, and the second with a story on crop transport in Mato Grosso.
