According to the estimates of the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), disclosed on Tuesday (11), in Brazilian capital Brasília, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the agricultural sector should grow between 3.5% and 4% in 2013.

The projection, according to technicians at the organisation, was calculated based on global and domestic market expectations. Specialists believe that in 2013, farmers should pick 180.1 million tonnes. According to the CNA, the volume is enough to supply the domestic market, which, according to the organisation’s projections, should remain at the same level as this year, and supply a growing global demand.

"Despite the crisis, we are [still] optimistic regarding Asia, due to the virtuous movement, with growth of income in China, mainly,” said CNA president Kátia Abreu.

Apart from this expectation for growth of food demand, boosted by Asia, the year was marked by significant loss in the main producer regions worldwide, suffering mainly with climate problems, signalling that 2013 may be a good year, at least for Brazilian agribusiness.

*Translated by Mark Ament

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the agricultural sector should grow 3.5% to 4% next year, according to estimates by the CNA.

[102

0":"post-43368","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-agribusiness
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the agricultural sector should grow 3.5% to 4% next year, according to estimates by the CNA.
["GET
