S\u00e3o Paulo – Casa do Saber (Portuguese for the House of Knowledge) is accepting enrolments for the course abriu as inscri\u00e7\u00f5es para o curso Oriente M\u00e9dio: Cultura, Pol\u00edtica e Sociedade<\/i> (Middle East: Culture, Politics and Society). The classes will take place from January 16 to March 6, every Wednesday, at the Casa do Saber headquarters in S\u00e3o Paulo. <\/p>\n
The course will tackle the region\u2019s past and present, aspects of religion, culture and power, the conflict between Jews and Arabs, the Palestinian issue, and the Arab Spring in Egypt. Casa do Saber is a centre for debate and knowledge spreading. <\/p>\n
The classes will be taught by the historian Sidney Ferreira Leite, the holder of a degree from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) and a postdoctoral degree in Communication from Universidade Metodista. Leite is the academic vice-president of Centro Universit\u00e1rio Belas Artes and a professor in Middle East Studies in the International Relations courses of Escola Superior de Propaganda e Marketing (ESPM) and Belas Artes.<\/p>\n
