{"id":44037,"date":"2013-02-24T07:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-02-24T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/escaesco.com.br\/lab\/anba\/oman-promotes-islamic-banking-forum\/"},"modified":"2019-06-30T13:13:57","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T16:13:57","slug":"oman-promotes-islamic-banking-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/oman-promotes-islamic-banking-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Oman promotes Islamic banking forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 Event &quot;Oman\u2019s entry into Islamic financial markets \u2013 Opportunities and Challenges\u201d, to take place on Sunday (24), in Muskat, should debate the country\u2019s relations with global Islamic finance markets.<\/p>\n<p> The event is organized by North American financial information company Thomson Reuters, in partnership with Capital Market Authority of the Sultanate of Oman (CMA), the General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (Cibafi) and the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI). <\/p>\n<p> According to a press statement disclosed by Thomson Reuters, the forum should cover opportunities for Islamic finance operations in Oman, how to benefit from the global market interest in Islamic finance and how to explore perspectives to develop a fixed income and interbank sector in the country.<\/p>\n<p> \u201cOman finds itself in a very nice position for attracting a disproportionate share of Shari\u2019a sensitive private investment from the rest of the cash rich GCC states and further afar,\u201d said Russell Haworth, Middle East and North Africa Managing Director at Thomson Reuters, in a company press statement.<\/p>\n<p> The other Middle East jurisdictions have always looked to Oman for investment as it is a country with which they share long standing ties of brethren,\u201d said Dr. Omar Hafiz, Secretary General of CIBAFI, also in the press statement. <\/p>\n<p> In January this year, the first Islamic bank in Oman, Nizwa Bank, was inaugurated.
