S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 The CEO of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/b>, Michel Alaby, gave a talk this Tuesday (12th) at the Ribeir\u00e3o Preto Trade and Industry Association (Acirp), in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, about business opportunities in the Arab countries. Around 70 people attended, including businessmen, consultants and Arab Brazilian Chamber associates.<\/p>\n
The executive discussed the 22 Middle East and North Africa countries that comprise the Arab world, how to do business in these markets, the services offered by the Arab Brazilian Chamber, domestic and international fairs the organization participates in, the export and import portfolio, what products have the most potential to be exported from Brazil to the Arab countries and imported from the Arab countries to Brazil, which Brazilian companies are active in the region, and what Arab companies operate in Brazilian territory. <\/p>\n
Regarding exports, Alaby mentioned opportunities in foodstuffs, cosmetics, medical and dental products, auto parts, agricultural machinery, wood, furniture and others. Import-wise, he stressed the potential for importation of food, ethnical items such as handicraft, cotton, textiles, dates, and wines.<\/p>\n
Ribeir\u00e3o Preto is a major agricultural and industrial hub, and some of the companies based in the region are Arab Brazilian Chamber associates. The organization is planning on having a booth at Agrishow, an agricultural industry fair held in the city from April 29th to May 3rd. \u201cthe [chamber\u2019s] participation is almost agreed on,\u201d said Alaby.<\/p>\n
He also paid a visit to dental equipment manufacturing company Gnatus, which exports to several countries and wants to increase its present in the Arab market.<\/p>\n
