According to the airport chairman Abdulaziz Al Noaimi, the administration was forced to move the inauguration to a later date because it doesn&rsquo;t meet the latest safety requirements of the Civil Defence Department.<\/p>\n<p>The inauguration was scheduled for 12:20 pm in Doha this Monday (1st), with a Qatar Airways flight. Another ten airlines were set to operate in the facilities.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time that the HIA&rsquo;s inauguration has been postponed. The work was scheduled for delivery three years ago, but divergences with the companies hired to build the facilities delayed the project, which was moved to December 2012 and then April 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The new airport cost US$ 15 billion. It will have the capacity to receive 30 million passengers a year, but may be expanded to receive up to 50 million passengers a year by 2020.
