Brasília – Following two straight months of decline, Brazilian industry revenues were up 3.6% in March from February, as announced this Thursday (9th) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI). The figures are deseasonalized, i.e. free from the effects of seasonality. March-on-March, the indicator has remained virtually level (0.2%). In quarter one, revenues were down 2.4% from the preceding quarter (deseasonalized).<\/p>\n
According to CNI’s executive manager for Research, Renato da Fonseca, indicators are still fluctuating. “We are seeing recovery, but it is still very gradual,” he said. The CNI economist Marcelo de Ávila added that there are signs of a rebound, but there may be interruptions in any given month. <\/p>\n
Industrial employment was up 0.2% in March from February. March on March, employment was up 0.5%. In quarter one, employment was up 0.3% from quarter four, 2012. In March, the Brazilian industry operated at an average of 82.2% of installed capacity. <\/p>\n
