The agreement was signed on Tuesday (18th) and provides for the purchase, by Syphax, of three A320 model units and three A320NEO, which is the newer generation of the A320, more economic, with new engines, and more silent. The value of the deal, which was closed at the Paris AirShow, and the deadline for delivery have not been disclosed. <\/p>\n<p>Syphax was founded in 2011 and flies to Tripoli, Libya; Marseille and Paris, France; and Istanbul, Turkey. According to the airline&rsquo;s CEO Mohamed Frikha, Syphax is aiming to grow in the markets it already flies to, from the cities of Sfax and Tunis, and to reach Asia and North America. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Adding the A320neo to our fleet means we can achieve all of these goals while benefitting from a 15 percent fuel saving and cost effectiveness,&rdquo; said Mohamed according to a press release on the Airbus website. <\/p>\n<p>According to Airbus, this is the first order for A320NEO units placed by an African airline. This aircraft model has not begun operating yet, however 2,125 units have been sold to 40 clients.<\/p>\n<p>Syphax&rsquo;s fleet includes two Airbus A319, three A320 and will soon fly an A330-200. The A310, A320 and A320NEO models are used in routes of up to 6,150 kilometres direct, and carry up to 150 passengers in two classes.
