According to the press statement disclosed on Friday (21) by the Conab, the visit also included a member of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

According to Conab, the Egyptian delegation came to learn about the Programme for Food Acquisition (PAA) and the Minimum Price Guarantee Policy (PGPM). Through the PAA, the government buys food from family farming, without promoting tenders and at referential market prices, up to a limit of R$ 6.500 a year. This food is then transferred to Indian communities, agrarian reform camps, social assistance institutions, quilombos – settlements established by former salves -, and to those affected by the construction of dams. The PGPM, in turn, buys surplus production at minimum prices, thus guaranteeing minimum income. The practice is adopted by small farmers.

Apart from visiting Conab, the Egyptians visited the Rede Terra cooperative, one of the institutions that provides food to the PAA, and a social assistance institution that receives donations from this programme. The Egyptian delegation came to visit the farmer assistance projects to serve as examples to those to be adopted in the country in North Africa, as is the case with the Family Farming Acquisition Programme.

*Translated by Mark Ament

Representatives of the Food Security Council of Egypt came to the country to learn about the Food Acquisition Programme, which generates food safety to the poorer population.

[106

0":"post-45092","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-foreign-affairs
Representatives of the Food Security Council of Egypt came to the country to learn about the Food Acquisition Programme, which generates food safety to the poorer population.
["GET
