The company&rsquo;s sales increased to China, Hong Kong and Vietnam, which received 27.5% of the group&rsquo;s exports, as against 14.8% from April to June 2012, and to Mexico, which received 18% of the group&rsquo;s exports, as against 16.2% in the same period of 2012. The company disclosed its financial results on Wednesday (14th). <\/p>\n<p>Exports to Africa and the Middle East remained level, at 10.1% of the group&rsquo;s overall foreign sales. The figures include operations at JBS&rsquo; units in the Mercosur, United States, Australia and Canada. <\/p>\n<p>Total sales from the JBS Mercosur unit, which comprises the company&rsquo;s activities in Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina, amounted to R$ 5.4 billion (US$ 2.3 billion) in quarter two 2013, up 25.8% from quarter two 2012. <\/p>\n<p>The result was driven by a higher number of animals processed during the period, and also by increased exports, particularly from Brazil. From January to June 2013, JBS Mercosur sold 237,000 tonnes of unprocessed meat to foreign countries, up 88.9% from the same period last year. Revenues from these sales were up 63.3% to R$ 1.675 billion (US$ 722 million).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Increased income <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JBS posted R$ 482.5 million (US$ 208.2 million) in net income in quarter two this year. The figure is up 126% from quarter two last year. <\/p>\n<p>From January through June, JBS posted a net income of R$ 21.9 billion (US$ 9.4 billion).
